Nepeta Leijon is an olive-blooded troll who was one the first ones who moved to Gensokyo as part of the first wave of Alternian refugees. She did not come for asylum for persecution, but from herself; Nepeta comes from a null session. She is one of the first who have started the ritualistic process that turrns a mortal to become a youkai through the magician's route.

Personality

Nepeta's past experiences has left her slightly resentful. She is somewhat self-hating as she does not get along with anyone outside of Gensokyo.

She is more aggressive than most of her incarnations and has no hesitation to start a fight or danmaku duel. Nepeta is often described

"Taoist belief is of cycles and balance. Nepeta finds that Moirallegence is best described by the principle of Dynamic Balance in Taoism. Her exposure to Taoist beliefs by Toyosatomimi no Miko gives her insight on how to express this particular card. This expresses the need to go with the flow and try to obtain balance. The concept of the moirail expresses this balance and symbiosis with each other."

"The troll relationship of an auspicism is to ensure traquility upon two other trolls on a working relationship through wisdom and understanding. Nepeta found Byakuren's Buddhist teachings to be closest representation to a mediator in a Auspice relationship. In Alternian troll culture, an auspicism relationship exists so it does not form into a second kismesis or destroy each other. This is a practical relationship."

Background

Everything seemed to have gone well. All trolls have gone through the Incipidsphere normally. All objectives just about achieved with little infighting. Everyone is intact or at least that what she thinks that happened.

A timeline doomed. A null session. Her existence was to remain and go insane. She lost all of her friends in The Battlefield. There are no NPCs left. Something went wrong and she was the only one left. Survivor’s Guilt. What seemed like a lifetime to her was about 45 days.

However, what in the … is this? This isn’t part of the game. It is a gap in the space-time continuum that seems to go elsewhere ... a gap of a purple haze with eyes in it. With nothing left, she took the risk.

Freedom! Nepeta found herself outside the game. People! But where was she? What were these people? They called themselves youkai. This place is called Youkai Mountain ... Gensokyo. The Land of Illusions. The Land of Fantasy.

Nepeta is found by Aya Shameimaru, a crow tengu. Right on the mountain in which the tengu are very territorial of. She begged. Pleaded. She has no home. Upon further consideration, the tengu went with it.

The troll was at first, a pain. But her knack with relationships became an asset to the paper. Identifying one to another in some sort of quadrant system. Nepeta became proficient in writing articles to the point that she rivals other tengu with the subject matter of relationships.

For once, she feels like she can be free. No incipidsphere. No king and queen. Away from the game. Away from the hemospectrum. Away from the Imperial Drones. This universe has no such devices. Gensokyo is a spiritual realm of Japan where the population lives in equilibrium: the youkai need the humans, and the humans needed the youkai. And Nepeta needed both.

Flash forward, she resides in Gensokyo, trolls from various failed, null, and void sessions started appearing and blended in. Some live in the Human Village, others moved in Former Hell where the Oni live. Others have come far and wide to travel to Gensokyo for its wealth. Not material wealth, but spiritual wealth.

Material needs were not the focus of this realm or of the culture — spiritual enlightenment is indeed at its heart, its culture. As it is written on the Hakurei Shrine, “The wise youkai sought not the bounty of objects, but the bounty of the heart.”

Nepeta finds solace with the youkai and the humans that live here. She finds fellowship with those who have come from other dead sessions. All those from such session find the temples and shrines fulfilling to them. The Hakurei Shrine. Myouren Temple. Moriya Shrine. The Divine Spirit Mausoleum. The ancient song of Gensokyo added and enriched their lifes.

Nepeta still struggles with everyday life. Things hurt inside from the game she played. Guilt. Anger. Emptiness. Forever she is scarred from it. Any details of the game brings her to tears and often she constantly visits the temples and shrines for atonement. Anything involving trolls of the outside world bother her.

A void remained missing as well. Her moirail, Gone. Her friends from the session, Gone. Everyone she knew from her session, gone. Nepeta wishes that she could have brought him with her. Or anyone.
